One such gem is the section between Porthgain and Abereiddy. This 4-mile walk takes you through a beautiful landscape of heather-covered moorland, ancient ruins, and stunning coastal views. It also passes by the Blue Lagoon, a former quarry that has now become a popular spot for cliff jumping and wild swimming. This section of the path is less crowded, making it the perfect escape for those seeking a peaceful and scenic walk.
2. Explore the Preseli Hills
The Preseli Hills, also known as the Preseli Mountains, is a range of hills located in the heart of Pembrokeshire. While many visitors come to the county for its coastal beauty, the Preseli Hills offer a different kind of adventure. The area is rich in history and is believed to be the source of the bluestones used to build Stonehenge, a famous prehistoric monument in England.
One of the best ways to explore the Preseli Hills is by hiking. There are several routes that take you through this stunning landscape, each offering unique views and experiences. One of my personal favorites is the 7-mile loop from the village of Mynachlog-ddu, which takes you through the heart of the hills, passing ancient cairns, stone circles, and hillforts. The views from the top are simply breathtaking, making it a must-visit for any nature lover.
3. Discover Hidden Beaches
Pembrokeshire is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the UK, and while many of them are popular tourist spots, there are also hidden beaches waiting to be discovered. One such beach is Barafundle Bay, located on the southern coast of the county. This secluded beach can only be accessed by foot, adding to its charm and exclusivity.
