Fishing the River Teifi

The Teifi flows from the Cambrian Mountains  to Poppit and is some 70miles long with a number of  waterfalls and rockey gorges. There are also quiet a few  deep pools and swift glides and the river is known as the Queen of the game Fishing Rivers.  As an added bonus (or not) it has a healthy insect population and offers a variety of fishing for Sewin (sea trout), trout and salmon. The occasional grayling has been caught. Sewin run from April until October with the best time for Sewin fishing between the start of June and the first week in September. Salmon fishing is good from April til the end of May most years. Trout Times (that should be a newspaper) are Mid March – late June and August to the end of September.

According to Llandysul Angling Association website there has been a 10.5kg Salmon caught in the last few years, 8kg brown trout and a 1.3kg Grayling.
The Teifi reaches the sea at Poppit Sands and varying sites can be reached within a 10min drive of the cottage. For more information see
